Archbishop Hartmayer opposes scheduled execution

The Atlanta archbishop is opposing the execution of a man who has been on death row for 46 years.

The state of Georgia announced that Virgil Presnell Jr. is scheduled to be executed on Tuesday, May 17, at 7:00 p.m.

On January 25th, Georgia Catholics Against the Death Penalty hosted a webinar entitled "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt: Intellectual Disability and the Death Penalty." The webinar featured Brian Stull, a senior staff attorney with the ACLU Capital Punishment Project and lead counsel on the Young vs. Georgia case.
