The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and the Georgia Catholic Conferenced have filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in support of Darryl Scott Stinski. Mr. Stinski is seeking to have his case reviewed by the Supreme Court, arguing that his trial attorney did not present mitigating evidence of his history of abuse and mental health issues at sentencing.

In the brief, the USCCB and Georgia Catholic Conference point to the Church’s teachings on mercy and the dignity of human life to urge the Supreme Court to exercise prudence in their decision.
